If you have not previously had any PAT testing carried out, we will help you approximate the number of items you have and over how many locations to provide you with an estimate. If you have had testing carried out previously, you may well have an asset list specifying the number of items and where they are. This allows us to give you a more accurate cost.
Once you have decided to use us, we will schedule the testing at your convenience. Every item we test is issued an asset number and a green label if it passes or a red 'do not use' label if it fails. During the testing we like to keep in touch to make sure any dangerous or faulty items found are removed, repaired or replaced without any disruption to the business.
We are happy to work in the most cost effective way for you, so please get in touch to discuss your requirements - advice is free.
Why do it?
Pat testing or portable appliance testing is an important part of any health & safety policy.
The Health & Safety Executive states that 25% of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable appliances. The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment. This in effect requires the implementation of a systematic and regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing. The Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) places such an obligation in the following circumstances:
1. Where appliances are used by employees.
2. Where the public may use appliances in establishments such as hospitals, schools, hotels, shops etc.
3. Where appliances are supplied or hired.
4. Where appliances are repaired or serviced.
